4 Bramley apples, cored

zest and juice of 1 small orange

75g light muscovado sugar

75g stem ginger, drained and chopped

25g butter

 

 

1 Heat the oven to 200C or Gas Mark 6. Score the cored apples around the middle with a sharp knife, then put them into an ovenproof dish.

2 Stir together the orange zest and juice, muscovado sugar and stem ginger. Spoon one quarter of the mixture into the hollow centre of each apple.

3 Dot the apples with the butter and bake for 35mins until they’re soft. Serve with custard or cream,
