Demon dancer Danny Mac has revealed he would never have found the confidence to compete on Strictly Come Dancing… if it hadn’t been for the support of his mother, Jan Greene.

The 28-year-old is favourite to win the glitter ball trophy. He’ll go head to head with Louise Redknapp and Ore Oduba in Saturday’s grand final.

Danny said having his mum in the audience each week has given him the strength to perform on live telly.

“My mum’s amazing, she’s my hero. It’s meant so much to me that she’s been part of my Strictly journey. She’s been in the audience cheering me on each week.

“I never really understood how big the show is until I did it. It hit me hard. But I wouldn’t be here today without my mum.”

Danny is engaged to former Hollyoaks actress Carley Stenson

Growing up in Bognor Regis as one of four children, Danny said his mum made him believe he could do anything he wanted.

“There were four of us and mum always encouraged us to do the things we enjoy. She was never the pushy showbiz mum. But when I said I wanted to perform she supported me.”

Danny also paid tribute to the friendship he shares with professional dance partner, Oti Mabuse.

Speaking at the Disney Store’s Christmas event he said: “Oti and I are such, such good friends. Everything I’ve achieved is down to her she is unbelievable.

We get on so well as people, the energy is really great and we really love spending time together, she is such a great, strong, powerful and intelligent woman.”

And fans of team DOti shouldn’t fear. The pair’s sizzling chemistry will be on show once again at the Strictly Come Dancing live tour. Which kicks off in the new year – yay!
