Former Strictly pro dancer Kristina Rihanoff has opened up about the curse of Strictly in an interview with Woman magazine. The 39-year-old – who met boyfriend Ben Cohen while acting as his on-screen dance partner – has commented on the phenomena that has plagued the hit dance show.

Referencing the rumours surrounding the relationship status of dancing duo Giovanni Pearce and Laura Whitmore, she had this to say:

“Giovanni is a lovely person so if they do get together, why not? They won’t be hurting anybody because they’re both single. But most of all I hope people will actually look at their dancing.”

Last series Giovanni began dating dance partner Georgia May Foote, with the couple announcing their relationship as the series aired. At the time of joining the show Georgia was in a relationship with former Coronation Street co-star Sean Ward.

Although the couple called time on their relationship, other Strictly pairings have gone from strength to strength. These include Rachel Riley and Pasha Kovalev – Rachel split from her millionaire husband of 15 months Jamie Gilbert shortly after her 2013 stint on the show. Jimi Mistry and Flavia Cacace also married in 2013. The pair got together just weeks after Flavia announced the end of her relationship with former Strictly partner Matt Di Angelo.

Strictly talk aside Kristina revealed that the couple don’t have plans for a second child as yet, but didn’t rule out expanding her family of three.

“Let me get through this one and then we’ll she,” she said.

She also brushed off the idea that the birth of the couple’s daughter Mila is the one thing that may silence their critics.

“It happens to everyone in the public eye, because some people will always be mean. But it’s all so insignificant when you have a baby. It doesn’t cross my mind any more, because it’s not important once you’re a mum”.
