The TV presenter takes her recent transformation to the next level

Judy Finnigan has been turning heads over the past few months, thanks to her noticeable and very impressive weight loss – said to be up to five stone. See the exclusive photos in this week’s issue of Woman.

But that’s not the only reason Judy, 69, has had to smile recently. Insiders close to the star tell Woman that Judy’s body transformation has given her such confidence she’s now determined to undergo a complete image overhaul, starting with her teeth, and has even spoken about cosmetic surgery.

‘Judy’s been told that if she wants to have a facelift, which is something she hasn’t ruled out, then losing weight first is essential, so that’s exactly what she’s done,’ our source says.

Previously opening up about the prospect of going under the knife, the star – who appears to have lost even more weight after dropping to a size 12-14 earlier this year – confessed she’d never say never, explaining, ‘The idea of doing it for reasons not crucial to my health doesn’t appeal. However, it depends how long you’re working for. If I still have a job in TV in five years’ time, maybe I’ll have to.’

And husband Richard Madeley, 61, has backed any big decisions Judy makes about her appearance, saying, ‘I wouldn’t mind if Judy had plastic surgery.’

Judy’s new teeth

Friends say that the mum of four has had a teeth-whitening procedure in recent weeks (although there’s also been speculation she’s had veneers) and it’s boosted her confidence no end.

Having lost so much weight, the presenter-turned-author is now moving onto the next phase of her makeover.

A source tells us, ‘Having her teeth done has made a huge difference to her self-confidence. She’s really excited that she’s able to make these big changes at this stage in her life.’

Judy’s hidden motivation

It’s thought there’s an underlying reason behind the notable shift in the former This Morning presenter’s priorities of late.

Our source tells us, ‘Judy actually credits moving out of the spotlight with enabling her to change.’

The star famously presented ITV’s This Morning with husband Richard from 1988-2001, and then Channel 4’s Richard & Judy until 2009, when she bowed out of TV, saying she’d fallen out of love with presenting.

Our source says, ‘Judy didn’t realise just how much she’d come to dislike being on TV all the time. She’s so much more private than Richard and has enjoyed being out of the limelight.’

Something she was reminded of further after a brief return to our screens on ITV’s Loose Women in 2014. Her appearance as a panellist sparked outrage when she said she believed not all rape was violent.

Our insider adds, ‘Even when she briefly joined Loose Women it didn’t quite go to plan. It reminded her she really wants to stay away from TV work at this time in her life, and concentrate on what she wants to do most.’

Since calling time on her TV career, Judy has indulged her love of writing, and published two novels – Eloise, which was a 2012 Sunday Times best seller, and the haunting I Do Not Sleep.

Judy’s ups and downs

Judy’s makeover hasn’t been without its challenges – she’s finding her new diet really tough.

Our source reveals, ‘The painful part of Judy’s new healthy eating regime is having to sacrifice pudding – something she’d have previously tucked into without a thought.’

However, Judy’s willpower and determination to eat better has seen many added benefits.

‘The good part is she has more energy and is making the most of it by going on long walks with Richard,’ our insider says.

She’s also using her time to take extra care of herself.

‘While she’ll never be a gym bunny, Judy’s a convert to health spas. She’s having regular facials, and massages, pampering and generally taking much more care of her mind, body and spirit. It’s seen a big change in her.’

‘She says the time has come to care about herself and that’s exactly what she’s doing.’

Well, it certainly seems to be paying off. Looking good, Judy!
