She bowled over the nation during last year’s I’m A Celebrity…, but could Carol Vorderman be returning to the jungle?

56-year-old Carol made her jungle exit early on in the 2016 series of the ITV show, finishing up in eighth place. But it looks as if now, she may be returning to Aus to have another go at the show.

Countdown star Carol sent a series of exciting tweets early on 21st November, sharing with thrilled fans that she was heading to Brisbane for the 2017 series.

However, the star instead suggested that she’d be putting in an appearance on the spin-off show, Extra Camp – rather than the main show.

She wrote to co-host Scarlett Moffatt, “I’m on my way …..which one first do you think??? Hmmmmm. πŸ€”“, with a picture of two drinks.

She then penned another teasy tweet, confirming that she’d landed safely in Aus and was headed to the campsite.

Carol wrote, Just landed in Brizzie Thank you for a great flight….pass the roo testies…..I’m starving…lol 😱

Later on, the ITV account tweeted Carol welcoming her to the jungle, writing “Welcome back Carol, all smiles till you see these little fellas πŸ‘‰ πŸ•·πŸ¦€πŸ¦‚ 🐍

However, the series of cryptic tweets have left fans guessing that the Countdown queen may well be heading in to the MAIN camp, rather than the spin-off. Reports suggest that she could be ready to to replace recently-booted contestant Jack Maynard.

One fan suspected so, writing, “You going back in, Vorders?”.

Is Carol Vorderman replacing Jack Maynard?

The YouTube star left the show after a series of ‘racist’ and ‘homophobic’ messages from 2012 were uncovered from his Twitter acocunt.

The 22-year-old’s publicist revealed that the decision to take Jack out of the jungle was made in order to allow the star to “defend himself”.

They said, “In the last few days Jack Maynard has been the subject of a succession of media stories which, given his position as a contestant on I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! – filmed in the Australian jungle, with no contact with the outside world, he has been unable to respond to.

“Since it is only fair that everyone should be aware of any allegations made against them and should also have the right to defend themselves, it was agreed that it would be better to bring him out of the show.”

So could Carol really be taking Jack’s place in the jungle?

Many also thought that ITV’s suggestive tweet about creepy crawlies hints that Carol is ready to take on yet more terrifying Bushtucker trials…

Carol hasn’t yet commented on the speculation, but we’re definitely keeping our fingers crossed…!
